SUVs are the most popular style of vehicle in the US, as the category changed the industry and consumers that never thought they’d drive a “truck” now love them. And given that some automakers eliminated sedans from their lineups completely, SUVs are here to stay. But does that mean the sedan is obsolete? Some say, “…not a chance” and they’d be right. While SUVs have their advantages – cargo room, ground clearance, all-wheel drive capability – sedans offer many benefits that SUVs cannot – maneuverability, efficiency and performance. Sedans make more sense for a variety of consumers – including single drivers, city dwellers and empty nesters. And sedans are typically less expensive than SUVs or crossovers.
