After a summer of flight cancellations, delays, baggage issues and staff shortages, you may be dreading traveling for the holidays. But there is a way to take some of the stress out of it: Travel Insurance. As with anything, do your research.
How Travel Insurance Benefits May Apply for Affected Air Passengers
Policyholders may have coverage under travel delay, missed connection, trip interruption, and baggage benefits.
Travel Delay is designed to provide reimbursement for reasonable meals and accommodations while unable to travel for a certain number of hours.
Trip Interruption provides travelers reimbursement of their unused portion of their pre-paid, non-refundable trip costs in the event your trip is extended due to unforeseen circumstances.
Missed Connection provides travelers with coverage if a delayed flight (for example, of 3 hours or more) causes a traveler to miss a cruise or tour departure.
Baggage Loss/Delay provides reimbursement for luggage, and covered items if a traveler’s bags are lost or stolen. If luggage is delayed, this coverage will reimburse travelers for essentials purchased while waiting for bags to arrive.
