Ambient Photonics is rolling out dye-sensitized solar cells that harvest indoor light to power low-energy electronics like keyboards, remotes and sensors, potentially reducing the need for disposable batteries. Backed by $78.5 million in funding, the company has launched mass production at its California factory and shipped its first batch to Lenovo. Unlike older solar tech, Ambient's cells work in low light and last longer than traditional batteries.
