Bubba Watson and Oakley bring VR to the Phoenix Open
It wouldn't be a surprise to me if Bubba Watson wins this week's PGA Tour stop, the Waste Management Phoenix Open. It did come as a surprise to me that he is the subject of a great onsite activation this week, thanks to Oakley.
Oakley is not only the official eyewear partner of the Phoenix Open but is also the official brand sponsor of the famous 16th hole – giving Oakley fans a world-class view onto one of the most exciting holes in golf. New for this year, Oakley will be transporting fans to the 16th hole with a unique Live Virtual Reality experience seen thru the eyes of Team Oakley golfer, Bubba Watson. Check out the VR headset design below, featuring Bubba in the all-new Targetline with Prizm Golf. The Targetline frame was designed specifically for golfers – giving athletes of all levels a lifestyle look combined with the performance features that they have grown to expect from the brand:
Note if you want to try and get a headset:
2000 units distributed throughout the weekend – available in line at the 16th hole, a gift with purchase at PGA Tour retail shops and via distribution from Bubba. Not attending? Download the PGA Tour app and view the VR experience as the action is unfolding. PGA Tour Live is brought to you by Oakley Prizm Lens technology: "Now you see what I see.”
Oakley even has Bubba's outfits all picked out for the week.
