CES Sports Zone to expand
CES® 2018 brings together athletes, sports leagues, media and companies dedicated to the development of technology in sports. The new CES Sports Zone, presented by Turner Sports, is a dedicated showcase at CES that combines exhibits, demonstrations and conference programming. Sports Innovation Lab , through its partnership with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is also a supporter of CES Sports Zone. Owned and produced by CTA, CES 2018, the world's gathering place for technology, will return to Las Vegas January 9-12, 2018.
"We are thrilled to announce the new CES Sports Zone. CES touches every industry, reflecting and driving global tech innovation as it evolves, and sports tech is now a major area of focus," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. "CES Sports Zone embraces this exciting relationship between sports and technology by bringing together key players from both sides to show the world how technology is changing everything from individual performance to the fan experience." The CES Sports Zone also includes four days of sports-themed content. The conference program includes two dedicated tracks: The Sports Business Innovation Track and the Sports Technology Innovation Track. CES Sports Zone will provide a complete experience for industry professionals interested in the intersection of sports and tech:
The Sports Business Innovation conference track, presented by Turner Sports, will feature leading business executives, major sports leagues, investors and celebrity personalities who are harnessing technology to impact the business of sports. Turner Sports' two full days of CES programming will include a live ELEAGUE showcase and TNT's Sports Emmy Award winning Inside the NBA studio team - Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal - live from the show floor. The Sports Technology Innovation conference track, presented by CTA and Sports Innovation Lab, will feature expert panel sessions about sports technology, and will showcase the results of Tracking Trends in Sports Technology, a research project addressing five key areas of sports innovation: the quantified athlete, smart venues, immersive media, next-generation sponsorship and esports. "We take great pride in being at the forefront of driving innovation throughout the sports media industry and CES presents a tremendous opportunity to showcase our thought leadership, products and capabilities with some of the brightest in the business," said Lenny Daniels, president, Turner Sports. "We're looking forward to further expanding our presence at this year's event through the creation of the new CES Sports Zone and its overall commitment to furthering the convergence of sports and technology."
