TAG Education: Horizon Awards

The TAG Education Collaborative is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization formed by the Technology Association of Georgia in 2002. Their mission is to strengthen Georgia’s future workforce by providing students with relevant, hands-on STEM learning opportunities. Each year, TAG-Ed places over 100 Georgia students in internships, which provide them with critical work experience and invaluable mentorship opportunities. Among the internships are outstanding students and dedicated mentors who are celebrated each year at TAG-Ed Horizon Awards.

The Horizon Awards is a celebration of those who are broadening Georgia’s future horizons. Year after year, intern host companies are amazed at what their interns can accomplish in just a few short weeks - challenging company norms and contributing directly to the bottom line. For many students, the exposure to new industries and invested experts is enough to launch them on a new and exciting career path.

The awards for students are separated into three categories to honor different qualities that have made them outstanding throughout their internship. The Student Pinnacle Award is the highest overall honor a student intern can receive from TAG-Ed. The Accelerator Award recognizes a student who demonstrated tremendous professional and personal growth. The Revolutionary Award recognizes a student who made a radical difference in his/her workplace, on assigned projects or in some other capacity.

The awards for mentors are separated into three categories to honor their invaluable guidance and dedication. The Mentor Pinnacle Award recognizes the individual who provided an exceptional mentee experience. The Industry Impact Award recognizes the mentor that has provided his/her intern with in-depth exposure to the company’s industry, whether through projects, meetings, events or rotational programs. The Youth Advocate Award recognizes a person who has championed the TAG-Ed internship program, whether by serving as a mentor, a company liaison for the internship program or a volunteer for their student events.

The Horizon Awards will be taking place on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the King Plow Arts Center (887 West Marietta Street, NW) between 4:00-7:00 pm. If you would like more information on the event or are seeking to purchase tickets for attendance visit the Horizon Awards event page.
